Vego Garden Giving Back Program

Just how big can a garden grow? Here at Vego Garden we believe that gardening’s impact is immeasurable. Gardening can change not only our perspective on the world, and our place in it, but can change the world itself. To this end, we endeavor to educate and expand access to the power of gardening to as many folks as possible. We are so inspired by your projects, and are honored that Vego Garden can help play a small part in changing the world.

Take a look at some of the projects that have touched our hearts and inspired us to keep growing!

Moss Haven Farm

Located right here in the Lone Star State, Moss Haven Farm is an incredible urban school farm that fosters a lifelong passion for environmentalism, community, and healthier lifestyles. Vego Garden is proud to support this incredible American Heart Association Teaching Garden.

Girl Scout Gold Award

Responsible environmental practices, ingenuity, and creativity are all central to Girl Scouts mission, and Megan’s Gold Award Project exemplified that perfectly. Megan used a 32” Extra Tall Vego Garden to create a raised rain garden at the senior community center in Green, Ohio. This accessible garden repurposes & filters rainwater before recharging the aquifer below. Way to go, Megan!

Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard

In Bloomington, Indiana, this incredible organization works to increase access to healthy food in ways that cultivate dignity, self-sufficiency, and community. Here at Vego we are so honored to play a small part in helping organizations like this one thrive. Anything that is not harvested from the garden directly by patrons is harvested by garden interns and put out into a low-barrier, client-choice Food Pantry, where 4,000 folks come each week in need of emergency food assistance.

Mandarin Immersion Magnet School

Mandarin Immersion Magnet School is located in Houston near the Galleria. Due to the pandemic, there were no after-school clubs allowed for that year, the garden is ready for a complete rehaul, and their existing wood beds are not withstanding the wear and tear. We donate some Vego Garden beds to bring students an environmental awareness and lifestyle experience.

Trueblood Small Family Home LLC

The Trueblood Small Family Home LLC is a California Care Center licensed to foster/adopt 6 medically fragile cardiac kids out of hospital settings. For these kids, organic gardening without treated lumber is important for safety. The produce raised will be used to feed the kids & staff and extra is taken home by the staff to help provide for their families. Vego absolutely loved helping with this project!

Monarch School and Institute

The Monarch School and Institute is a Houston-based non-profit school for individuals with neurological differences. Students learn so much from the gardens, and what they harvest is then used in the Life Academy to prepare lunches for those on campus. We are delighted to have been able to provide substantial assistance to them through donated garden beds. A community that gardens together, grows together.

Community Action of Orleans and Genesee

Founded in 1965 as part of a movement to combat poverty, this renowned community agency has assisted disadvantaged individuals in Orleans County for nearly 60 years - with 1077 low-income citizens benefiting from the agency’s food pantries and prepared meals.

Vego Garden is proud to support their efforts and donated three garden beds that were planted in the agency, to help educate low-income families on growing and preparing food from gardens, and becoming self-sufficient. The agency’s mission of 'giving a hand up, rather than a handout' is a powerful one. Keep up the good work!

Edible Schoolyard New York City

Since 2010, this exemplary non-profit organization has dedicated itself to furthering edible education and making it more accessible to every child in New York City. By partnering with major schools in the city, Edible Schoolyard NYC continues to educate and promote healthier students and communities through hands-on culinary and gardening education.

These efforts have inspired us and we are glad to support with Vego's garden beds, to help students thrive and develop heathier relationships with food and nature.

Highland's Giving Garden

In Highland, California, this unique community garden under the Highland Congregational Church is committed to community welfare, growing fresh produce and offering hope for those in need. Raised beds are featured in this garden for a single purpose - to yield crops for community distribution and make a positive impact in the lives of the disadvantaged.

We are honored to support Highland's Giving Garden's mission with our garden bed donations, which will go a long way to cultivate better harvests, and better lives through the gift of kindness.

Wylde Center

With the aim to provide youths and families opportunities to experience nature in an urban environment - Wylde Center was founded in 1997, offering environmental education programs and green spaces for development of skills in organic gardening and sustainable lifestyles.

The NGO currently operates five greenspaces in four different Decatur and Atlanta neighborhoods, with year round access for the community to attend the center’s events and educational programs.

We are glad to support their efforts with our garden beds, to be used at one of their 17 partner schools throughout Metro Atlanta to further gardening education for local youths.

The Food Mill

Based in Columbus, Georgia, the Food Mill is a well-known food farmacy. The nonprofit organization aims to eliminate barriers and solve food insecurity issues in Columbus, with a specific focus on the North Highlands community, which accounts for one of the highest rates of nutrition insecurity in Columbus.

Vego Garden is honored to support their Farm to School Program, to offer students hands-on gardening education and help reduce food insecurity. Our donated raised garden bed kits will be used at a school without an established garden space, enabling students to plant, care for and harvest produce through nutrition and urban agriculture classes.

Orange Christian Services Food Bank

Based in Texas, the Orange Christian Services Food Bank is a nonprofit organization tasked with the goal to bring the local community together to grow, harvest, and share fresh fruits and vegetables to help alleviate food insecurity.

Their efforts to help the local community are inspirational, and Vego Garden offered support with new garden bed donations - used to create a pollinator garden for their citrus orchard.

These projects are just a few of the projects that Vego has been lucky enough to help with.
